Uplift days

This was to be our first time riding at Llangollen outside of racing despite being visit number four. The weather was pretty disgusting but better than the forecast had predicted, it was going to be an interesting day! Martin has a real enthusiasm and the work he puts in is clear to see, the uplift trailer is excellent and 20 riders at a time wasn't cramped or damaging on the bikes, just the way it uplifts should be. Two locals were there as marshals and we were informed about everything we needed to know before our first runs. A third track is up and running now, ideal for a warm up run or for anyone a little bit daunted by the steeper more direct track, a good move I feel.
Full on wet conditions were new to us at the venue and we were pleasantly surprised by how well it still rode, there was a surprising amount of grip in many places making it possible to attack the track and not have to tip-toe anywhere although I think we all hit the deck at some point! The verdict? Well worth going and some nice touches too, it's not everywhere you get given lunch and I think Martin came and spoke to everyone before they left, even offering us food for the journey home! Thanks for a great day to  http://www.onegiantleap.llangollen.co.uk/

661 Mini Downhill Race

Last race of the year and the 1st of the short course winter races at the Forest of Dean. The "ski run" was used, pretty apt considering the conditions of late! A very successful race for the Red Mist team with Dan Haines taking the win in his first race after going up to the Masters catergory and i'm sure he'll be a podium regular next season.

Our other Dan, Dan Ingram, has also moved up an age group taking the step into juniors. Always a tough catergory and 14th place was very respectable.

Vets was a big field of 20+ entrants. Niall and myself were beaten into 2nd and 3rd respectively by the "young" Si Paton but you can't grumble about taking 2 podium spots!
A good fun race, well run and well supported by the sponsors.

Thanks to Tina Ingram for the pics.

Winter is here...

Well that's the 2010 season done and dusted, winter is here and although racing takes a break we don't!
One of our first off season missions was to build a new section of track at Caersws. One weekend of hard graft has pretty much seen the job done although another weekend is needed to complete it, ride it, and make any tweeks that are needed. All being well it'll be raced on early next season!
